Water sector events in Kyrgyzstan, November – December 2019
In November – December 2019, the number of events related to water quality monitoring, preparation of the SDG National Voluntary Review as well as other events connected with water sector and SDG 6 took place in Kyrgyzstan.
From November 11 till November 15, 2019, The International Conference on water quality and energy efficiency organized by EU-Central Asia Network for Water Science and Technology took place in Bishkek. The thematic workshops within the Conference aimed at strengthening the dialogue between European and Central Asian policy makers, research institutes and universities, funding agencies, companies, NGOs and local communities, focusing on water science and technologies and focused on water quality.
The results of UNECE Project Strengthening cooperation on water quality management in Central Asia (Water Quality in Central Asia, phase 2) have been presented by CAREC – project partner. Also research works implemented by the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) and the results of FishEDU Project supported by the Finnish Government and implemented by the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University (KNAU) in partnership with UEF have been presented at Conference too.
On November 20, 2019, the Coordination meeting on preparation of analytical documents for the SDG National Voluntary Review, Ecology and Environment protection sections covered SDG 6, 7, 13, 14, 15, 17 and indicator-based State of Environment Report of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2015-2018 has been held in Bishkek.
On December 24, 2019, the Round table on WASH issues and the results of interinstitutional working group on financial tracking mechanism development in WASH sector (TrackFin) implemented under supervision of European Regional Bureau of the World Health Organization has been held in Bishkek. Additionally to the mechanism of financial tracing of donor and technical support rendered to the WASH sector in country, the process of National Voluntary Review preparation, especially SDG 6 chapter has been discussed during the meeting.
