Awareness raising campaign – Round Table “Environment of Issyk-Kul Province and its importance for population wellbeing”, June 2018

On June 7, 2018 Round Table “Environment of Issyk-Kul Province and its importance for population wellbeing” took place in conference hall of Issyk-Kul District State Administration, Issyk-Kul Province (Oblast) of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Round table has been organized jointly with Issyk-Kul Aarhus Center under support of Issyk-Kul District State Administration of Issyk-Kul Province, the State Agency of Environment Protection and Forestry under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic (SAEPF), OSCE Programme office in Bishkek and Aarhus center in Bishkek city.

The major part of participants was represented by the Heads of Rural Administrations (Ayil Okmotu) of Issyk-Kul area and also by the managers and owners of resorts, guest houses, etc., which implement their  activities on the Issyk-Kul shoreline  .

The Round table has been opened by Mr. Danir Imanaliev, the Head (Akim) of Issyk-Kul District State Administration of Issyk-Kul Province of the Kyrgyz Republic. In its welcoming speech Mr. Imanaliev informed participants about environmental protection activities oriented to ensuring of proper environmental situation in the region, mentioned an urgent need to strengthen measures toward improvement of environment, and addressed to all participants to be intensively engaged into the process. Representatives of ICI Project - Mr. Ari Mäkelä and Ms. Oliviia Gruzdova delivered presentations related to Issyk-Kul water quality monitoring imp and launching of Issyk-Kul Oblast State of Environment Report preparation.

One of the event’s tasks was discussion of issues associated with environmental situation in the regional and the ways of its improvement. The Resolution consisting of initiatives -planned to be implemented in the nearest future for ensuring of stable environmental situation in the area of Issyk-Kul lake - has been adopted by the results of meeting.
